Warrior is woman
Inspired by the theme of “Women Weaving”, for International Women’s Day 2026
This poem emerged from a writing prompt on the Excavate Your Life course by Beth Kempton
With thanks to Claire Venus ✨ Lauren Barber Laura Durban, Georgia, Laurita Gorman, and Lyndsay Kaldor for initiating this weaving of words by women writers.
I drag myself out of sleep
Pull you into my body
Lug washing, load dishes, prepare food
Love with every single piece of myself
Go back to say sorry, to try again, begin again.
One baby at my side, holding my hand
One snug against my coat, sharing space inside
With patience, strength and passion I persevere
Daughter, bride, mother, sister, woman interwoven
Warrior spirit

Beautiful words Laura. And welcome to this new little soul who came into the world.
